"We saw the Isles play and succeed at a more conservative style last season when injuries caused them to field an AHL roster."

I said this the other day. If you're gonna steal my shat at least give me a credit or something

going back to last blog, i wasnt saying that conacher isnt the next in line to sit, i was saying that scoring "4 goals in the next 4 games or else youll find yourself sitting" probably isnt a formula to building line cohesiveness and chemistry.

but yes, i agree, conachers gotta go.

Yeah I generally ignore his points. I was just getting at that I had the feeling that Conacher is #1 on the list of "forwards to bench", when the time comes.

THIS.

I'm already really disgusted by the amount of ice time capuano keeps giving them. They get pinned in their own end often, take needless penalties and have contributed what...two goals? I cannot find any reason to give them more than 8 minutes a night at best.

Second most frequently used fourth line 5v5 in the league. Last year they were #1.

dan with the second and third lines looking good together, where do you see bailey fitting in once healthy? conacher clearly isn't working on the top line. Do you see bailey there? i doubt they call up Dal Colle.

Garth was a year early (to the day) on trading for a legit 1st line LW.

Replace Conacher with a Vanek-caliber LW and this team could win 7-5 on a lot of nights.

Thomas Vanek - he of zero goals and 4pts. Not that I like Conacher, but let's see what Mr. Lee can bring to the table

Dal Colle is not eligible.. I think bailey shifts to third line. Conacher scratched and someone, maybe Lee gets a look on the top line

Lee-Tavares-Okposo
Grabovski-Nelson-Strome
Bailey-Nielsen-Kulemin
MM-CC-CC

is a lineup I'm comfortable going to war with.

When Grabner is healthy though...I don't know. I guess a lot would depend on if Lee (assuming Conacher gets scratched and Lee fills his spot) is succeeding with Tavares/Okposo. If he's not than he's the likely guy to go down.

Wild have played a light schedule so far.

Lee looks as good as we all thought he would but it would be great to keep those 2 middle lines intact. Failing that, Grabvski and Lee are good options.

I would think Grabner or Clutterbuck will be traded at the deadline since Bailey's contract still has a way to go...

Winning 7-5 doesn't impress me. You can't keep giving up 4,5 goals a night.

I agree with both of you.

The thing is, if they were that good (ended the season like 13-5, or something like that) with a crap lineup, think how good they'd be if they played that way with 18 professional skaters and solid goaltending.

That's what everyone keeps saying: "the fans love seeing 12 goals". Yes, we do....but 11-1, not 7-5. 7-5 is causing yourself to do more work than is necessary to win a hockey game.

Grabner is a RW.

Even if that didn't matter, if Bailey keeps this play up there's no reason why he deserves to be replaced. It'll depend how he responds when he's healthy again.
